These services are designed to help children succeed not only in their academics but also in their relationships, self-management, and overall school experience.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes these services may include <strong>school-based mental health supports<\/strong>, such as academic counseling, to help students manage challenges that may affect their learning.<\/p>\n<h2>How Behavioral Services Can Help<\/h2>\n<p>When students receive behavioral support at school, they may benefit in many ways, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Improved attendance and academic performance<\/strong> &#8211; helping students stay engaged in learning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Increased participation in school activities<\/strong> &#8211; encouraging confidence and connection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reduced classroom disruptions<\/strong> &#8211; supporting a calmer, more focused learning environment for everyone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early identification and intervention<\/strong> &#8211; addressing concerns before they grow into bigger challenges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Skill-building<\/strong> &#8211; teaching children strategies to manage their emotions, behavior, and learning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Character development<\/strong> &#8211; fostering responsibility, respect, and positive decision-making.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How Students Access These Services<\/h2>\n<p>In most cases, a child must have an <strong>Individualized Education Program (IEP)<\/strong> or a <strong>Section 504 Plan<\/strong> in order to access school-based behavioral services from our district&#8217;s <strong>Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)<\/strong>.
