Renzulli, 1986), which defines<br \/>\ngiftedness as the interaction of three traits rather than a single test score:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>above average to superior academic ability<\/li>\n<li>a high level of task commitment<\/li>\n<li>a high level of creativity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Program_Goals\"><\/span>Program Goals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The program for students identified as highly academic, creative and task-committed aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>use multiple criteria to identify students<\/li>\n<li>engage students in higher-order and creative thinking<\/li>\n<li>provide opportunities for leadership and self-directed learning<\/li>\n<li>enhance social, communication and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>facilitate collaboration with peers<\/li>\n<li>engage small groups in intensive learning experiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Students_Do\"><\/span>What Students Do<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The program provides individual and small-group investigations of real problems at an advanced<br \/>\nlevel of depth and complexity. Students pursue authentic problems using research skills and inquiry<br \/>\nmethods, extend content skills they have already acquired, and work at a professional level of<br \/>\nthinking and collaboration.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Identification\"><\/span>Identification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Under Board Policy 6171.2, the district maintains an ongoing identification process using multiple<br \/>\nmeasures covering intellectual ability, creativity and specific academic areas.
