The cost of<br \/>\nthe trip is met by parents and guardians. If the cost is a hardship, contact the Chief School<br \/>\nAdministrator \u2014 support is available and the conversation is confidential.<\/p>\n<p>The number of chaperones follows Board of Education policy on adult-to-student ratios. Trips for<br \/>\npreschool through fifth grade sometimes include parent chaperones, who are invited only after<br \/>\ngrade-level staff have been assigned. Trips for sixth through eighth grade are historically<br \/>\nchaperoned by staff only.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Grade-Level_Fundraising\"><\/span>Grade-Level Fundraising<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Families take part in fundraising from fifth through eighth grade. The money raised offsets the<br \/>\ncost of eighth-grade activities \u2014 the eighth-grade trip, graduation, and caps and gowns \u2014 so that<br \/>\nthose costs do not fall on families all at once in the final year. Class parents help organize each<br \/>\nfundraiser, but the responsibility is shared across all students and families in the grade.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade 5 \u2014 Calendar fundraiser<\/li>\n<li>Grade 6 \u2014 QCREW fundraiser and Gertrude Hawk fundraiser<\/li>\n<li>Grade 7 \u2014 Philly Pretzel<\/li>\n<li>Grade 8 \u2014 Discount cards, Maddalena&#8217;s cheesecake, and the staff versus student game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"School-Wide_Fundraising\"><\/span>School-Wide Fundraising<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The PTA runs fundraising for the whole school: the Color Run, the Scholastic Book Fair,<br \/>\nRoary&#8217;s Shoppe, fall and spring clothing drives, the Holiday Shop and the Mother&#8217;s Day<br \/>\nplant sale. See <a href=\"\/index.php\/fts-pta\/\">FTS PTA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Class_Parents\"><\/span>Class Parents<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Class parents sign up through the PTA. A class parent is a volunteer who helps the homeroom teacher<br \/>\norganize activities and events through the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"draft-note\"><strong>Draft note for the Steward \u2014 delete before publishing:<\/strong> Written from the Fundraising PDF, which is out of date in two places: it directs hardship enquiries to &#8220;Dr. Gooditis&#8221; (a former principal) and names a PTA officer slate that may have changed.
