Nothing found in this exercise was caused by one bad<br \/>\ndecision &#8212; it is the accumulation of pages nobody owned, documents nobody re-checked, and links<br \/>\nnobody clicked. A support model has to make ownership specific and review scheduled, or the site will<br \/>\nbe back in this state within two years.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stewardship\"><\/span>Stewardship<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Every page has one named role as its steward, and stewardship is assigned by role rather than by<br \/>\nindividual so it transfers automatically when staff change. That is already set out in the restructure<br \/>\nplan and covers all 82 pages. Two things make it work in practice:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A steward can decline.<\/strong> If a page cannot be maintained, the right answer is to say so and have it reassigned or removed \u2014 not to leave it to rot. Standard 5.1 already says this; it needs to be said out loud at least once so people believe it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nobody stewards more than they can review.<\/strong> The Supervisor of Special Services currently owns 20 pages and the School Counselor 11. Those are the two heaviest loads and both sections are content-rich. Worth confirming with them directly rather than assuming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Review_Cadence\"><\/span>Review Cadence<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Tier<\/th>\n<th>Frequency<\/th>\n<th>Pages<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Dynamic<\/td>\n<td>Monthly<\/td>\n<td>BOE Meetings, School News, The Weekly Paw Print, Athletics, Health Updates, Open Positions<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Semi-static<\/td>\n<td>Quarterly<\/td>\n<td>Most pages \u2014 calendar, staff directory, parent resources, department pages<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Compliance<\/td>\n<td>Annually<\/td>\n<td>Legal Notices, NJ School Ethics Act, Standard Operating Manual, Affirmative Action, Environmental notices<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>At each review the steward confirms five things: the content is still accurate, the links still<br \/>\nwork, there are no stale dates, the formatting still meets the standards, and the page still reads<br \/>\nproperly on a phone.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_the_Committee_Does\"><\/span>What the Committee Does<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Keeps the stewardship list.<\/strong> One document, current, naming the role for every page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Runs an annual site-wide review<\/strong> to catch what the per-page reviews miss \u2014 particularly duplicate content and pages that have quietly gone dead.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Approves new pages<\/strong> before they are published, against the checklist in Standard 5.3.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Is the escalation point<\/strong> when a steward cannot maintain a page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reports compliance to the Board annually.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Practical_Suggestion_on_Cadence\"><\/span>A Practical Suggestion on Cadence<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Quarterly review of 80 pages spread across eleven roles is roughly two pages per person per month.<br \/>\nThat is achievable. What usually kills it is that the reviews all fall due at once and feel like a<br \/>\nproject. Staggering them \u2014 each steward reviewing their pages in a nominated month rather than<br \/>\neveryone in January \u2014 turns it into a habit instead of an event.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Recurring_Problems_to_Watch_For\"><\/span>The Recurring Problems to Watch For<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Three patterns caused most of what was found in this exercise, and all three will recur without<br \/>\nattention:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The PDF reflex.<\/strong> Uploading a document is faster than writing a page, so it happens by default. Every page that is now only an attachment started as a reasonable shortcut.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time-sensitive content with no expiry.<\/strong> A flyer for an event in October 2019 is still published. Nothing prompts anyone to remove it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Copies instead of links.<\/strong> Duplicate pages and duplicated documents both come from the same instinct \u2014 putting a copy where someone might look for it, rather than linking to the one canonical page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_This_Does_Not_Cover\"><\/span>What This Does Not Cover<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This model assumes content maintenance by school staff inside Edlio. It does not cover platform<br \/>\nadministration, accessibility auditing beyond the standards in this document, or the initial migration<br \/>\neffort to move the approved structure onto the live site.
