Welcome to Franklin Township School. This page covers what you need to enrol your child and what
to expect in the first few weeks. If you have a question it does not answer, call the main office on

Registering Your Child

Preschool

Preschool places are allocated by lottery rather than first come, first served. See
Preschool Enrollment for the lottery dates and how to
apply.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten registration is open to children who will be five on or before 1 October. If your
child already attends preschool at Franklin Township School, you only need to complete the online
registration and Home Language Survey — not the full document set.

Otherwise, bring or complete the following:

• Original birth certificate — copied and returned to you immediately
• Proof of residency — mortgage, deed or lease agreement, driver’s license, or utility bill
• Health forms — the Universal Child Health Record completed by your doctor, with the immunization record attached
• Online Student Registration and Home Language Survey
• Progress report from preschool
• Custody papers, if applicable

Grades 1-8

Register online, then bring the birth certificate, proofs of residency, health forms and a student
records release form to the school office.

Before Your Child Starts

• School hours — 8:35 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Early dismissal is 12:50 p.m.; delayed openings begin at 10:35 a.m.
• Buses — learn the letter of your child’s bus. Bus information is emailed directly by the transportation company. Allow ten minutes either side of the posted time for the first few days.
• Parent drop-off — doors open at 8:35 a.m. Students must have a note to use parent pick-up; a single note can cover the whole year.
• Genesis Parent Portal — set up your account early. Beginning-of-year forms are acknowledged through Genesis, and access to your child’s gradebook depends on completing them. See Parent Resources.

What FTS Offers

Franklin Township School serves preschool through grade eight on one site. Alongside the core
curriculum, students can take part in interscholastic sports from grade five, a range of clubs and
activities, and enrichment through the Gifted & Talented program.
