Environmental

Franklin Township School is required by New Jersey law to publish certain environmental and
safety notices, and to make the underlying reports available to families and the public. This page
brings those notices together with the school’s wider sustainability work.

Water Quality

New Jersey requires schools to test drinking water for lead and to notify parents and staff of
the results, whether or not any exceedance is found. Franklin Township School publishes its lead
monitoring certifications and the consumer notices of tap water results here. Each report covers a
specific testing period, named in the document title.

Pest Management

Under New Jersey’s School Integrated Pest Management Act, the school must maintain an
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan, give advance notice before applying pesticides, and notify the
community when an emergency application is necessary. The plan sets out how the school controls pests
using the least hazardous methods available, and pesticides are used only when other approaches have
not worked.

Air Quality

The school follows a published guideline for deciding when outdoor activities should be modified
or moved indoors because of air quality, using the Air Quality Index.

Sustainability

Franklin Township School participates in Sustainable Jersey for Schools. Current initiatives
include anti-idling at pick-up and drop-off, an assisted parent drop-off and pick-up arrangement, and
participation in the School Health Index self-assessment.
