Do You Have Concerns About Your Preschooler’s Development?
Parents who suspect that their preschool-age child may have special needs can receive free help and guidance from the Franklin Township School District’s Child Study Team.
The Franklin Township Department of Special Services is conducting a Child Find—a program designed to locate and provide services for children ages 3 to 5 who may have physical, cognitive, language, social, or emotional difficulties.
For children under age 3, information is also available to help families connect with early intervention services.
Signs That May Indicate a Need for Support
If your child shows one or more of the following, we encourage you to contact the Child Study Team:
- Delays in learning to talk or difficulties with speech
- Trouble walking, running, or using small objects
- Frequent health problems or a disability present since birth
- Consistent difficulty seeing or hearing
- Intense temper tantrums or extreme anxiety/shyness
- Difficulty playing or interacting with other children
- Trouble paying attention or listening
How We Can Help
Through the Child Study Team, families can access:
- Screenings to better understand your child’s needs
- Professional guidance and recommendations
- Specialized educational programs and services (if needed)
All of these supports are provided free of charge through the public school system.
