Title 1

Franklin Township School receives federal Title I funding under the Elementary and Secondary
Education Act. Title I money pays for additional academic support for students who need it, and it
carries specific rights for parents — including the right to ask about your child’s
teachers’ qualifications.

Parents’ Right to Know

Every school receiving Title I funds must tell parents that they may ask about the professional
qualifications of their child’s teachers and paraprofessionals. Franklin Township School
receives Title I funding, and we will share that information on request.

The school must also notify you promptly if your child has been taught for four or more
consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet New Jersey certification or licensure requirements.
All educators in New Jersey are required to hold the appropriate state certificate or license for
their position.

School-Parent Compact

The Title I School-Parent Compact sets out how the school, parents and students share
responsibility for academic achievement. Under the compact the school undertakes to provide
high-quality curriculum and instruction, hold parent-teacher conferences at least annually, report
on each child’s progress quarterly, keep staff reasonably accessible to parents by email and
phone, and offer opportunities to volunteer and observe in the classroom.
