Curriculum Overview

Franklin Township School’s curriculum is aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
in every content area, from preschool through grade eight. Curriculum maps set out what is taught in
each subject at each grade level, the sequence in which it is taught, and how learning is assessed.

Curriculum Maps

Curriculum maps for kindergarten through grade eight are published as a shared folder. Each map
covers one subject and grade band, and sets out units, essential questions, and assessment points.

Draft note for the Steward — delete before publishing: The K-8 Curriculum Maps page on the live site is an empty container that links out to a Google Drive folder. I could not read the folder, so I could not list the individual maps here. Standard 2.2 asks for a brief description of what each map covers — that needs the folder contents. Please paste the folder link and I will build the list.

Preschool Curriculum

The preschool program uses Tools of the Mind, a curriculum built around self-regulation and
intentional play. See Curriculum: Tools of the Mind.

Health and Physical Education

Comprehensive Health and Physical Education is covered separately, including the Family Life and
Social/Sexual Health topics and the parent opt-out process. See
Health Curriculum.
